The Wage Theft Prevention Act makes key changes to New York Labor Law

In December of 2010, then-Governor of New York David Patterson signed the Wage Theft Prevention Act. The “Act”, as it will be known, makes key changes to New York Labor Law and expands the authority of the New York Commissioner of Labor. Overall, the Act serves to increase protection of employees while imposing more severe penalties for non-compliant employers.
